Food waste isn't the only community waste product that can be reclaimed and given new life on the farm.
On 4th of July weekend, I met up with a friend who owns a business. Turns out they had a LOT of pallets of various sizes cluttering up their shop.
As it turns out, I needed a bunch of pallets and lumber for a few projects on the farm.
So, we filled up a couple of pickups trucks (see one load in photo above) and the lumber is all at our place awaiting projects.
It'll be a lot more work pulling boards apart and pulling nails/screws compared to freshly bought lumber, but this will be a lot cheaper and turning waste into something useful is kind of our "thing".
